Welcome To There Never Was A Me

With Freyja

Introduction

Non-dual teachings, from whatever tradition or lineage, have always pointed to the same truth: we are already that which we seek. The wholeness of reality is not elsewhere, not hidden, and not dependent on practice or attainment. Throughout history, this recognition has been expressed in diverse forms — sometimes framed in terms of an absolute godhead, sometimes denying any absolute at all. Yet all strands converge in acknowledging an unseen essence — being itself — together with the appearances of mind, body, and world. They conclude, in different languages, that reality is indivisible and paradoxically two but not two.

Equally, all strands describe the same illusion: the arising of separateness, which shows up in human psychology as self-consciousness. The sense of being a separate “me” gives rise to lack, striving, and suffering, as though wholeness were absent and had to be regained. Traditions have responded in different ways, sometimes prescribing elaborate practices, sometimes encouraging self-inquiry. But over time, the expression has thinned out, becoming increasingly direct, until the most radical forms of non-duality point without compromise: there is nothing to attain, no practice to complete, and no self who could achieve anything. What is spoken is self-evident and obvious — that what already is, is wholeness itself, already alive with love.

This illusion of separateness is simply the appearance of blindness to what is: the obvious no-thingness that cannot be conceptualised or limited to the individual body. From this apparent blindness flows the restless search of a separate individual for completion through more experiences. Yet this blindness is only apparent. The causeless, apparent dissolution of separateness reveals the home of wholeness, aliveness, and universal love that is always present — of which blindness itself was only ever another appearance.

Naturally Being aligns with this uncompromising expression. It does not posit a higher reality behind appearances, nor does it reduce appearances to illusion without value. Instead, it points to the simple fact of what is: the no-thingness that is neither emptiness nor form, but both. This is not nihilism and not eternalism, but the description of what cannot be conceptualised. In naturally being, joyful aliveness and love are inseparable from what is.

The Apparent Two Modes of Being

The capacities of the human form — to recognise, imagine, remember, emote, move, dream, restore, and relate — are themselves appearances of no-thingness. They function most fluidly when not distorted by the illusion of separateness. From this perspective, two worldly modes of apparent being can be described:

Naturally Being: survival as the impersonal functioning of the body-mind, effortlessly tending towards nourishment, protection, balance, appreciation of diversity, and the natural expression of love.

Separately Being: survival distorted by the illusory “me,” where capacities are co-opted to protect the imagined self rather than the living body-mind, giving rise to insatiable accumulation, self-destructive tendencies, and the shaming of diversity.

What science names “optimal health” may appear alongside naturally being, but it is never a goal, only another appearance. The appearance of suffering is as causeless and impersonal as its disappearance. It is not a flaw to be corrected but the natural expression of separately being. The apparent dissolution of separateness is nothing more or less than the revelation of all there ever is — aliveness, wholeness, and love appearing as everything.

There Never Was A Me Gathering

There Never Was A Me Gathering is a half-day dialogue about this clarity. It is not offered as a workshop in self-development, nor as a technique for self-improvement, but as a shared space in which the uncompromising message of non-duality is spoken. Scientific models of cognition, perception, and behaviour are not presented as materialist truths but as appearances of no-thingness.

The half-day is not an academic seminar but an exploration of experience itself. Together, we inquire into the illusion of separateness, the natural patterns of the body-mind, and the indivisible reality in which all appears. Nothing is taught, nothing is prescribed. What emerges is not attainment but recognition, not by anyone, of the love and aliveness that is already no-thingness.

Gathering Timetable

2:00 – 3:15 PM — Session 1: The Apparent Dissolution of Me

The no-thingness that cannot be conceptualised by the pattern-recognising mind but is all there is — neither something nor nothing, but the indivisible context for all that appears, including the appearance of a separate self that seems blind to it. In reality, this blindness is just an illusion that never actually existed but only appeared to. Here the revelation of universal love is inseparable from the recognition that there never was a “me.”

3:15 – 3:45 PM — Break

3:45 – 5:00 PM — Session 2: The Appearance of the Body-Mind Psycho-somatic Process

The appearance of the capacities we call the mind and body — rational thought, imagination, memory, emotion, instinct, and relation — appearing in the play of the two modes of being. These capacities may undergo damage, require balanced nourishment and protection from danger. Free of the self-destructive thoughts of being a separately being, practical and creative activity reflect the wholeness, love, and aliveness of what is. Personality can be spoken of without implying a person. It is simply a patterning of thought, emotion, and behaviour, shaped by conditioning and circumstance. A useful metaphor is gently considered - “The Universal Family” to provide natural orientation.

5:00 – 5:30 PM — Break

5:30 – 6:45 PM — Session 3: Concluding Dialogue — Being Lived Without A Me.

A returning home to the simplicity that there is no person, no “me,” only no-thingness appearing as everything. All appearances, including separateness, are revealed to be nothing more than the endless play of love, aliveness, and no-thingness itself.
